Michael Lawrence Cadman R.I. (1920-2010) :
The highly accomplished painter and teacher Michael Cadman was born in Epsom, Surrey and studied at Wimbledon School of Art between 1937-1941 under Gerald Cooper and Robert Buhler and then at the Royal College of Art 1941-1944 with Gilbert Spencer, Percy Horton and Robert Austin. He taught at Epsom School of Art from 1947-1969. Cadman said that design, colour and atmosphere were the most important elements in his work. He was a member of the St Ives Society of Artists and was elected a Member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters in 1970. He exhibited there and at the Royal Society of Painters in Watercolours, Royal Academy and Royal Society of British Artists. He lived in Sherborne, Dorset.
