The Dutch painter Jan Evert Morel was born in 1835, the son and probably the pupil of the marine painter Caspar Johannes Morel (1798-1861). He painted mainly genre scenes and pleasing landscapes with figures. He lived and worked in Amsterdam for most of his life and exhibited there between 1853 and 1874. The Dutch landscape painter Barend Cornelis Koekkoek (1803-1862) was his main inspiration. Jan Evert Morel died in Weesp, Holland in 1905.
