Charles-Louis Verboeckhoven (1802-1889):
Born in Warneton in Belgium in 1802, the marine painter Charles-Louis Verboeckhoven first worked and studied with his father, Barthelemy, and elder brother, Eugen, neither of whom painted marines. He travelled to complete his studies and then turned to marine painting. He exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1842 and was a member of the Academy of Amsterdam. He succeeded at winning medals for his painting at Arras, Brussels, Cambrai and Lille. Collections: Museums at Aix-en-Provence, Antwerp, Cambrai, Cherbourg, Leipzig & Ypres.
