Jacobus Cornelis Wyand Cossaar (1874-1966):
The Dutch painter Jacobus Cornelis Wyand Cossaar was born in Amsterdam in 1874 and studied art there at the National Academy. He lived in London from 1901 to 1906 and again in 1909 before moving back to Holland where lived in the Hague. He was mainly a painter of figures, urban landscapes, church interiors and waterscapes. In the Hague he taught drawing and joined a number of groups such as the Pulchri Studio, Haagse Kunstkring and Art et Amicitae. He exhibited in the Netherlands, London, Paris and Berlin and his works can be found in numerous public collections.
