Kenneth Gribble (1925-1995):
Draughtsman , painter and teacher born in Sparkbrook Birmingham in 1925, Kenneth Gribble studied at Harrow School of Art in 1943 then Camberwell School of Art, 1946-7 and completed his studies at the Slade School of Art in 1947-50. Gribble said that the Slade tradition, Sickert and the later Euston Road School were important influences on his work. Gribble later went on to pursue a teaching career while continuing to paint and exhibit. Gribble became Art Advisor to Somerset Council Education Department, 1972-80, then principal of Maidstone College of Art, 1980-84. He exhibited at Manchester Academy of Fine Arts from 1956, Usher Art Gallery in Lincoln from 1961, Royal West of England Academy from 1970 and elsewhere. He lived in Sidmouth, Devon until his death in 1995.
