William Cave Day (1862-1924):
Born in the West Yorkshire town of Dewsbury in 1862, William Cave Day was a painter of genre scenes and landscapes in oils and watercolours. He studied in Paris and at Herkomer's School in Bushey, Hertfordshire and began painting professionally from 1890. He lived in Harrogate and painted in the local area including many views of Knaresborough. Cave Day exhibited frequently in London at the Royal Society of British Artists and occasionally at the Royal Academy. In spent the last few years of his life at St Ives in Cornwall.
