Albert Ludovici Jnr. R.B.A. (1852-1932).:
Born in Prague the son of the genre painter Albert Ludovici (1820-1894), Albert Jnr, lived his life between the cities of London and Paris. He was elected a member of the Royal Society of British Artists in 1881 and fell under the spell of Whistler while the American was President of that society. He counted Whistler as a close friend and corresponded with him about art and life. Ludovici is well known for his scenes of London life painted in a refined Impressionist style. He was able to capture the gaity of society at leisure and the essence of bohemian Paris and London of the period. He also painted landscape and interior scenes and worked in oils, watercolour and gouache. Ludovici primarily exhibited in London at the Society of British Artists, Royal Academy, Goupil Gallery and the International Society of which he was also a member . He participated in exhibitions from 1884 until 1923.
